I guess my point is that there aren't too many people who have actually ever been qualified - Bush 1 comes to mind as being the last and then maybe Nixon before him.
The main problem with Obama is that he, like Clinton, was driven to be president for the sake of being president rather than wanting to be president to CHANGE a specific thing. I have a cousin who ran for city council in his town because the tax dollars from his neighborhood were being spent to develop a part of town nearly 10 miles from his house and he got pissed off so he ran (and lost). That was a good reason to run rather than just wanting power/prestige/or to get out from being a bored lawyer. Tom Delay probably had the best reason I've ever heard for running for office: he was an bug exterminator who wanted to open his own business and he got frustrated at all the regulations and tried to change them, but failed, so he ran for congress to get the power to change them. Obama just wanted to be cool. |

It's hard not to give Chavez credit for using the world's largest oil reserves to fund his social programs. If inflation in that country hadn't of devalued their currency by 6 fold in the last 15 years, then it might be a good model for success.
