I guess to succeed in boxing at the top level in those days as management or promoter, you probably had to have quite a high threshold for the sub-legal side of things.....

Yeah, I think in terms of operating in the grey areas you are right. I guess probably its changed in terms of nowadays it's probably guys like Hearn and Shalom being very creative with money management rather than old school intimidation/racketeering being involved. Like everything, the crime will be in the money now.
