RE: Virtual Rape
If you really have kids coming into services with emotional issues from TV and Video Games, then those issues started a long time before they even knew what a video game was. The problem is not that some pubescent teenager figured out how to hack a ridiculous video game, the problem is that anybody can have kids. Even the shittiest, most self-indulged shitheads of the world. And shitheads have shithead kids. We need good people to have kids too, because the shitheads are gonna keep on fucking and popping out more shitheads. And if there are no good people to balance them out, then the world is going to be filled with nothing but shitheads.

Don't even get me started with that violence in the media causes violence in real life crap. Read about Catharsis Theory, and you'll know exactly where I stand with that.

RE: Virtual Rape
I never said it was the sole cause...as a matter of fact I went out of my way to point out that when you couple violent content in video games with OTHER aspects, it could be PART of the problem.

And it does not always have to do with parents simply being unworthy of properly raising kids (but I do agree that is an issue as well).....our media culture is so far reaching and saturating that sometimes even the best of parents fall victim to it.

I used the horse porn because that was the instance that had a very negative impact on a 10 year old girl in our services. this was not an issue of her parents being worthless, she was exposed to it over the net when visiting a friends house. Mother had known that child's parents had met the kid....she had pretty much done everything a "good" parent should...YET....her child was still exposed to it.

This is what I mean by pick and choose our battles. I mean would it really make America any less free to make solid attempts to regulate aspects like this in video games? When you have droves of young American children/young adults killing others.....I really think it's a lack of rational thought to leave exposure to violence, as a possible factor, completely off the table.

Fun stuff. I'm pretty careful about what my son plays, but I worry about my nephews.

RE: Virtual Rape
Look at this shit. Since we are on the subject (loosely) of sexual assault, and we on the board have talked a lot recently about how people those days are just so desperate to be in uproar about something.... look at the dumb bitches in this article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-28958365

So desperate to go off on a fucking rant that they miss the point entirely of a product invented to help. Why cant people look at the big picture anymore? This shit here is like saying we shouldn't have to invent cancer drugs because cancer is bad and shouldn't exist in the first place.

The boundaries of vulgarity are pushed in media, because they have already been pushed in society. Media follows societal cues to keep the masses entertained. The nastier society gets, the nastier that media will get. It has absolutely nothing to do with freedom. That's just the reality of where we are.

There is a parental guidance rating system for TV, Movies, Music, and Video Games. So the dummies know what type of content is in the media that they are letting their child consume without even playing an active role in monitoring it. It all goes back to my point...shitheads beget shitheads.

RE: Virtual Rape
I 100% totally agree with your first statement. But I think the second is way too oversimplifying the issue. As a matter if fact, both statements contradict one another. In your first statement you say its an issue of society and then in the second you say its an issue of simply shitty parenting.

looking at just your first statement....if the tend continues as I think we both agree it does....
does it not make sense that just like any process you would reach a margin of diminishing returns? I think that's where we are in this topic. I think its time as a whole Americans take a hard look at themselves and ask if it is really healthy where that process has led us. I think any American that is open to the reality of self preservation would be open to making some changes.

RE: Virtual Rape
My statements support each other. Society is degenerating, and media is following. It doesn't matter what you do, shitheads be fucking.

I mean I "get" where these women are coming from, but it's pretty much the ongoing issue between practicality vs idealism. Ideally, we want to live in world where rape doesn't exist. Realistically, we don't, so we need to take practical precautions.

All heart. That's what most little guys are.
But that counts for a lot. In the gym or
the ring all you gotta do is get up
one more time than the other guy thinks you can.

RE: Virtual Rape
Precisely snoop. We all agree women shouldnt get raped, but why would you go against a product which can help prevent it. Typical of nowadays.

Because people create an identity in fighting against causes, and in some instances care more about the ideology than the actual people affected.
