Slowest throwing punchers.
Just a quick thought..
We always talk about fighters with quick hands, but what about the slow?

Off the top of my head, my vote goes to Alfredo "Slo-Mo" Angulo!

RE: Slowest throwing punchers.
True. Margarito was pretty slow too. His pressure & size would make up for that, most the time.

Kirkland isn't the fastest dudes going around either.

Good call on Foreman, Teddy! Not to mention they would come from a mile away. GGG isn't very fast either but makes up for that with timing. Same thing applied to Monzon, although demonstrated a bit more speed.

Surely the Heavyweights (specially the current crop) have had their fair share..

RE: Slowest throwing punchers.
Jose Luis Castillo was particularly slow, which is surprising since he gave a 135 pound Mayweather his toughest fights. He also beat Joel Casamayor.

Jhonny Gonzales is also a bit slow.

Jose Luis Ramirez, was another top contender that fought as if he had inches of rust in his joints.

Brandon Rios isn't quite as slow as Castillo or Ramirez but he is one of the current contenders in this category.

Looking back on this list it's quite clear that all the fighters I mentioned are Mexican or employ the Mexican style of fighting. Just goes to show how it's not really the speed of the punch, but the accuracy and placement that can make a difference. Many of these guys didn't wait for the perfect shot like Zab Judah does, and were quite content on battering the arms, chest and elbows.

The David Tua that fought Ike wasn't what I'd consider fat. But good point. lol

RE: Slowest throwing punchers.
Angulo has to be as slow as they get!

It is pretty incredible how far he went considering how absolutely crap he is!

He even makes Margarito look somewhat fast!
