The positive byproduct would be better fights, fighters performing in their best condition. And I'm willing to bet over 90% of these guys are already doing it, so I'd say the playing field is already pretty level. The ones who have been caught are just the tip of the iceberg. More physical damage is possible, but it's the fight game. Fighters go into this sport knowing they're going to dish it out and receive it. They also go into every fight knowing their opponent is probably juicing, just like they are. It could also be argued that there is more risk of damage without PED use because fighters are forced to fight in a weakened state. Poor performance can lead to more physical punishment. PED use can help prevent injuries too, and maybe we'd see more fighters survive training camps without being injured. Best chemist? Best doctor? What about who has the best coach? Or the best camp? Best dietitian? It can be argued some fighters already have an advantage based on who they have working for them. If PEDs were legal, at least everyone would have equal access. |
