WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR IN CINEMA 2015
Lots to look forward to in 2015. Hopefully Jupiter Ascending makes up for Cloud Atlas.

So many movies coming out, but so little to waste 20 bucks on. I sure as hell am not going to see Fast and Furious 27 or whatever.

Definitely looking forward to Jupiter Ascending.

I thought the only cool part of the Star Wars trailer was the camera shot of the Millenium Falcon. Everything looks like it got Disney'd out.

Spectre should be good. D. Craig is without a doubt right up there with Connery as Bond. The only thing i didn't like about Sky Fall was this undertone that Bond was getting old.

Yeah, Skyfall made it look like Bond needed a cane. I liked it...sorta? It look beautiful, but it went back on what Craig said about erasing all the cheesy Bond quips. In Casino Royale, for example:

James Bond: [after Bond has just lost his 10 million in the game, to the bartender] Vodka-martini.
Bartender: Shaken or stirred?
James Bond: Do I look like I give a damn?

AWESOME!! New Star Wars could be good. But all I want at least is a competent Star Wars movie and I'll be fine. I mean, the prequels set the bar very low.

Jupiter Ascending looks awesome. I mean, I don't mind the casting and love the actors in it, but it probably would cost less if they used no names, save on the budget, and guarantee a profit. I bet half or more of the budget is just for the 4 main actors.

I think in Skyfall it's just showing how rough it's been on his body. It's humanizing James Bond. Same with how Vesper Lynd getting killed had an effect on him. With the old Bond movies Lynd wouldn't even get mentioned and he'd kill the physical and tests then drop a one liner.

I just really loved the first movie and then the second one was awful. Quantum of Solace was awful, but still looked good. I remember reading Craig talk about how the writer strike hit the movie:

"On 'Quantum,' we were fucked," he said plainly. "We had the bare bones of a script and then there was a writers’ strike and there was nothing we could do. We couldn’t employ a writer to finish it. I say to myself, 'Never again,' but who knows? There was me trying to rewrite scenes – and a writer I am not.’"

This is why production should never start without a script! I also read and heard interviews about how IRON MAN was basically a rough outline and they basically rewrote shit everyday. I dislike this process. I dislike a movie having 5 alternate endings. This just means that they didn't really have any ambition or coherent vision.

Get your script perfect and then set up production. A movie gets released and a week after it's successful, you'll hear "Blah Blah 2 is green lit for June 5th, 2016." Is it written yet? You can't put a deadline like that up immediately without expecting the end result to be rushed shit.

Star Wars for sure. I think the Avengers 2 is coming up this Summer, so that is a must-see for me. Not sure about anything else right now.

James Toback doesn't finish the script until he finishes the movie. There is a really good documentary called The Outsider that basically follows Jim and his process of making a movie. It's a great watch if you're interested in that kind of stuff.
