I need to vent....

When in the grip of active addiction especially during a binge it is simply not possible to rationalise any behaviour that if good for you but extremely easy to justify self destructive behaviours & engage in them to the fullest potential. It is not the cops problem as she by drinking is not committing a crime against anyone but herself. The hospital can only admit her as a voluntary patient unless you have her declared mentally unfit & have her sectioned. However the risk of doing that could be that she further isolates from her family seeing you as a judas who is working against her & wants to hurt her. Also depending on her medical history they could keep her for a extended period & fill her with drugs. A sad situation Smarty & one that extreme care should be exercised dealing with. I am only speaking from my personal experience but when the time is right she will seek help. She will not get well until she admits defeat over her illness & accepts she is powerless over drinking & the only choice she has is to have that first drink. After that first drink the power of choice is removed & she will function on autopilot with the default destination is self destruction. |
