I need to vent....
Spyder Wrote:So you have managed to lump the whole movement into "a bunch of do nothings."SmartyBeardo Wrote:If by condemn, you mean make fun of and ridicule in jest for being smelly bums...yes, I am 100% guilty of that. Now I'm not a bully, so I would never go down there to make fun of the smelly people hanging out in tents by the riverwalk...but I do chuckle at their ridiculousness when I see them on TV or on the internet. The ever sanitary OWS crowd is free to do whatever the fuck they want within the rule of law...do they contribute anything to society? Nope, but that's completely up to them.Spyder Wrote:What does whether or not there are organizers have to do with it being grassroots.SmartyBeardo Wrote:The Occupy organizers know quite well that "Wall Street" is largely symbolic.Organizers...wait a minute, I thought that it was a grassroots movement? You seriously need to pull your head out of your ass. It isn't a very decent point of view. The movement has already accomplished a lot, for better or worse. A corporation is an entity created by people, it is not people. What you are essentially agreeing to is super personhood. The fact is that significant percentages of most major corporations are owned by people who are not American citizens. According to the rules of the game as they have evolved, those foreign people can have significant effect on the political process through their corporate personhood by exercising their freedom of speech with unlimited $$$$. Why shouldn't these occupy types exercise their power to attempt to change the rules to what they perceive would be a more fair playing field? You talk about how you play by the rules but the fact is that the power elite and corporate fascists only play by the rules as long as they feel it is in their interests. If not, they simply ignore or circumvent the rules. I'm not asking you or Meth or anyone else to think like me. I'm only suggesting that you look at what has been going on from more than one perspective. But, if as I suspect you aren't actually interested in knowing what is really happening or you don't care as long as you are on the winning team, well, then please be my guest and keep your heads secure in your own asses. Capitalism is a game. The corporate fascists are not interested in playing by the rules of the game unless they have written the rules. They are not interested in competition. They are not interested in risk. They are interested in complete control. They are interested in completing a vertical edifice of power not unlike that which currently exists in Russia. They are interested in a neo-feudalist world model that secures all power in geo-regions to the corporate fascist elite. They are not interested in the rest of the world becoming like us. They are interested in cementing control of their geo-region. This is what is happening. I don't blame you for keeping your heads up your ass and ignoring it. But why condemn those who refuse to ignore it? If you would like to go down the rabbit hole I will be your guide. If not, enjoy the view. |
