Joe Parker is fighting german HW Yakup Saglam on June 13th. I know they wanted someone ranked much higher. They had Eric Molina ready to sign on the dotted line only to get gazumped at the 11th hour by Wilder. Tony Thompson is another one that flat out turned down a contract. There was one other big name they couldn't quite get. I tried to weasel it out of Kevin Barry but he was keeping his cards pretty close to his chest. I'll have another go at getting it out of him when they are in NZ next week.

I think they sent around 8 contacts out to highly ranked dudes and couldn't get anyone to bite so they are left with this guy. I think they will try and lock and load someone for August. Disappointing but it is what it is.

His stablemate the black Polish HW Izu Ugonoh is also fighting on the card but it is against some journeyman type fighter. The kid looks useful though and I understand that Roger Mayweather (always hard to impress when the fighter is not named Mayweather) thinks he has a lot of potential after seeing him do some training at the Money gym in Vegas. Should be interesting to see how they move him in the next 18 months.

And for the Aussies WW Jeff Horn is fighting WBA 11th ranked fighter Richmond Djarbeng on the same card. Jeff can flat out fight and can really bang. I'm not sure if this card will be televised in Oz but if it is I suggest you watch it. Horn has the most talent of any Aussie fighter out there right now IMHO.

All in all a very solid card for NZ.
