Such strong hate towards Cotto... Where was all this hate when Pacquiao was doing it?

If Geale doesnt make 157, he wont be fighting. Apparently Cotto has back up fighters lined up.

I think the difference is that Pacquiao was at 140 coming off the Hatton win, and Cotto was at 147...so as was the historic purpose of a catch weight, it was a compromise to make a fight between two guys a class apart.

Cotto is coming off winning the middleweight championship campaigning as the middleweight champ.

There was plenty of hate when Pacquiao was doing it. Surely you remember the Pontoon?

I'll assume K9 is the backup. He's in training for Charlo is July.

Exactly. He's "The Man" at 160 and won't fight a contender unless he weighs in 3 pounds under the middleweight limit? Absolute horse shit.

I remember for Cotto's last few fights at 140 (almost a decade ago?) he was weighing 160 when he entered the ring. Remember how dehydrated and gaunt he looked at his last few weigh ins at 140? No question he had to move to 147.

I hope Geale blows off the weight and is a fully rehydrated middleweight of 160lbs.

RE: Miguel Cotto-Daniel Geale fight thread.
This fight is ridiculous to me.....Cotto is "The Man" at middleweight due to beating Sergio Martinez. However, he weighed in at 153.5 today. That's not even the jr. middleweight limit. How can a middleweight champion not even weigh the jr. middleweight limit and still compete for a middleweight championship? Doesn't the champ have to at least weight more than 154?

That's beyond the point....if you're the middleweight champ, you shouldn't be able to say that an opponent can't weight over 157. That's fucked up, but I guess somebody will agree with it. I hope Geale beats his ass and takes his title. Cotto won't fight GGG, so he should just vacate the titles, go down to 154 and fight Canelo.
