Swinging wildly isnt necessarily ring IQ. I associate IQ more with generalship, punch placement, seeing what your opponent is doing and learning on the fly, being able to change styles midfight, making the right adjustments, etc.
I'd go one further and say theres no way you can have any type of ring IQ if you dont have the wherewithal to master basic technique. You would have to have the intelligence to say, "You know what, if Im gonna be able to make any headway in this sport I need to get the basics down"

Would anyone point to Ricardo Mayorga's ring IQ in discussing his career?
