RE: Potential Mayweather-McGregor numbers.
I gave McGregor the first 3 rounds, that's it. It's been said Mayweather took off the first 3 rounds, and that might be true.
If we all knew McGregor couldn't last the distance, then what was the point of trying to outbox Mayweather? We all knew his only chance was to go for the KO. Why not give it your best shot and go all out? Who cares if the fight only last 4 rounds? You're gonna get stopped anyway. Just say fuck it, and maximize your chances. |

Turns out that this pile of shit didn't shatter PPV records like originally thought..which mean 50% of this board that was right..is infact wrong
This pulled in 4.3 which falls short from the Mayweather-Pacqiuao numbers which still stands as the highest PPV sales. |

RE: Potential Mayweather-McGregor numbers.
It’s still shocking to think a boxing novice with an 0-0-0 record fighting a non title fight is the second highest PPV selling bout of all time.

Not when you take his opponent into consideration. Floyd would have loved to have fought that level of opponent for the whole showtime deal. It's just the first time a relevant boxer and mma fighter got in the ring.

Though it is interesting given all the hype they generated about PPV shattering numbers that nothing was really made readily public like they do for the big fights in the past. All heart. RE: Potential Mayweather-McGregor numbers.
Dana White came out with 6.5 and it was quickly refuted to be around 4.3-4.4 by Showtime from memory. Given Showtime ran the promotion, makes sense the official numbers are close to their early estimates.
Dana White just loves hyperbowl. The entire UFC franchise has been built on it, loud music, pumped up over the top commentating, ring announcing where Bruce screams and stamps his feet. Calling any UFC heavyweight champion "the baddest man on the planet". Constantly promoting that MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world. He will make a statement (some fair, but most BS) just to make headlines and most people buy it. He reminds me of Don King, his own brand has become bigger than his fighters! |

Probably because Haymon called and expected Floyd's cut to be of 6.5 mil of thats what they wanted to run with.
