These days guys like Canelo, Cotto, Rigondeaux, Walters, Crawford even Gonzalez fight 2 times per year. You've got to dig back to 2009 to find a year that Ward fought 3 times. A lot of the names mentioned earlier in this thread from the past like Morales, Mosley/DLH in their prime, Barrera, even second tier guys like Vic Darchiniyan fought 3+ times per year. 3 verses 2 may not seem like a lot, but it's 50% more and it's seeing a guy in the ring every 4 months or so verses 6 months. These days with guys fighting 2 times per year half the time I can't remember who they last fought without really thinking about it. They aren't on our minds enough. I think the only current guy I can really point to that seems to consistently be in the ring 3 times per year is Golovkin, and it's no surprise that he's one of the most talked about guys. We see him more, he's fresher in our minds, he gets talked about. There is alot of truth to what you & Fitz wrote. By saying that the exact same example of fighters not fighting enough, posters aren't posting either. I know it's not the biggest forum but if you look at our first 2-3 pages of members list it's a whose who but probably 10% post these days. Posters either get run off these boards, stop, become spectators, don't contribute or maybe even stop posting cause another might? Can you imagine if all past posters averaged a post a week or so how much more traffic they could generate. Even if it's a post as short as blacks post above or a lazy like. Big slim, maxy, C.E.O, lil lights out, STEVENSKI, smartybeardo, kyle the spinks fan, byrdman, sentral, big g, mr factor, jluvbaby, kidbazooka, kookedkrack, rolldeep, jlupi, noodz & teddys wife, Decagon are all posters who have gone M.I.A! At the end of the day posters make a board regardless of what the topic or interest of the board itself may be. We need less spambots, more posters from the old days and get new members..even if they might be considered newbs or novices! |
