RE: Ward-Kovalev II set for June 17th in Vegas
Kovalev could always stick to his long range game but always add more feints, punches; apply more pressure or even take the role of counter puncher. If Kov lands big or has Ward in trouble again he may show more urgency to close the show.
Not saying any of this is going to happen but I don't see why Kovalev couldn't do anything differently..or better from the first, whether he does or is successful is an another. Ward has more room for improvement and has more ability but don't see Kovalev being significantly different in terms of his chances or threat in the rematch than he was leading into their first fight. |

I get this sneaking suspicion that Kov has this fear that he will gas late, he looked so measured in the 2nd half of the first fight where as Ward has always been a guy that does good work down the stretch. I just don't see Ward giving away the first half of the fight this time. He has taken Kov's best punches and lived to tell the tale, I suspect that will give him a helluva lot more confidence in the rematch. Kov's problem remains, he is a shitty inside fighter and Ward knows this and will make it another torrid wrestling-type event accordingly. For Kov to win he needs more output and he has never been a high-volume type of fighter, mainly because he hasn't needed to be. I hope I'm wrong and Kov wins coz I feel like he got a little robbed in the first fight but I do believe Ward is the fighter with more upside going in and will adjust to make this a cleaner win. “Shakespeare? I ain’t never hoid of him. He’s not in no ratings. I suppose he’s one of them foreign heavyweights. They’re all lousy. Sure as hell I’ll moider dat bum.”—Tony Galento |

I think Ward wins a wide decision this time around. Like many have already said, Ward is the type who can adapt and evolve his game. I believe he won the first fight, and I believe he will win again.
