RE: Canelo-GGG II signed for September 15th!
I personally think GGG has hit the tipping point and is slowly on his way down.
He pulled a final big effort out of the bag vs Canelo which saw him through (morally if not on the scorecards), but i think he'll struggle in the rematch. However, I agree this may be offset by the fact that the judges may bend over backwards to give him close rounds, and seeing as how Canelo is unable to fight for three minutes per round, we may get a few of those. This may be similar to the Morales-barrera fights in which the unpopular benefactor of the first fight is hard done by in the second fight. Although for the record I had Morales winning both of their first two fights. Black |

I think he was a better fighter than either Pac or Barrera, but like Holyfield, just couldn't help but get himself into wars because he loved them so much. Yeah, I much preferred Morales to Barrera or Marquez.
It was a sad day for me when Pac stopped him. Black |

RE: Canelo-GGG II signed for September 15th!
The problem is that GGG was alway mislabeled.
He’s not a brawler and never has been. He’s an intelligent pressure fighter with an excellent jab, heavy hands, and a measured approach. That pressure was enough to beat Canelo the first time...and although he’s a year older, he’s been more active, isn’t coming off the juice he was on the first fight and seems a lot more relaxed to me. |

I agree he is measured and not a face first brawler, but he does seem to have lost his intensity in recent fights. That suffocating and claustrophobic pressure he steadily applies to fighters has been absent since the Daniel Jacobs fight. Whether that's because he took a step up in opponent levels (Jacobs and Canelo are clearly the two best opponents he has fought) or whether it's because he's hit his career apex and is on his way down now I don't know, but he certainly hasn't looked the same for a couple of years now.

Jacobs is a style headache for GGG...tall, big, very awkward style, fast hands - and GGG Still won.
I guess I’m not seeing what others are. A juiced Canelo fought the best fight he could last year, and he lost. Why will he be better after sitting idle and coming off the juice? Is it because we think GGG will be worse? Even if we net them out it’s the same result. |

Jacobs is an A- mw whose style would be a nightmare for any top mw of the last 20 years. He would match up damn well against JT. For my money, the best thing you can say about Clanelo is that he fought Trout and Lara when he didn't have to. I totally agree with you that Clanelo fought his best fight on roids. Absolutely no reason to believe he will be as good as last time. I want to see GGG go to the body early and often. |

Abel has been trying to goad Canelo. He wants him to stand toe to toe this time. That's how we're going to see a stoppage. It all comes down to how Canelo chooses to fight. We know GGG won't run.

I think GGG was mislabled when Sanchez claimed he could beat everyone 160-175. He's at best someone that can beat everyone at 160. He looked more average against higher quality opponents and unbeatable against small guys, no hopers and C/B level mws.
Canelo has needed a lot of help on the cards for such a young fighter. He even created his own division and turned to drugs to gain a competitive advantage. His ceiling was never A level ppv star, he's the Mexican the A level ppv star fights on cinco de mayo. |

I think GGG really took the first decision and Canelos juicing personal.
I hope that pushes him in training and in the fight. |
