What's in a name?
There are lots of well known boxers in their home countries and around the World. Some of the most popular fighters today are Canelo, Manny Pacquiao, Anthony Joshua, GGG..

My question is Who today is the most well known American fighter? Wilder? Spence? Broner?

How do they stacc up vs their peers and what can they do to establish the following these other foreign fighters have?

They are in the wrong country. Different countries back their sports people differently. The UK is mega tribal when it comes to sports. It just seems to be taken really seriously. Its a cultural thing and it doesnt seem tk be that way in America. From what iv seen when over there and on tv, read on here over the years etc, although you all have your teams it seems to be a much more casual alignment you have with them. Over here for some people its their entire life.

RE: What's in a name?
Only certain teams have a cult following, and its only 1 to 2 teams in each sport.

Baseball: Yankees, maybe Boston

Football: Cowboys and Patriots.. maybe Steelers.

Basketball: Lakers, Warriors..

Americans are so wishy washy with their sports heroes. They can love you one minute and hate you the next... dont even get me started with Love/Hate relationships between fans and someone like Floyd..

RE: What's in a name?
The most well known American boxer would be most likely be Wilder then Crawford & Spence.

Wilder needs that Joshua fight to give him any chance of ever becoming a star. By saying that if each man is gonna have a fight before they fight eachother, it would be good to have both fight in the others country. If Wilder fought in England against a Whyte & Joshua fight Povetkin in the states!

As for Crawford and Spence, one needs Pac and the other needs Mayweather! If not..Crawford just landing the Pac fight and getting a highlight reel KO against the legend would put casuals on notice!

The Welterweight division after a hiatus is packed again, but it doesn't do the competitiveness of 147 justice because there is no stars..but it's become a very decent division with Thurman, Spence, Garcia, Porter, Pac, Crawford amongst others like Broner, Khan, Horn, Vargas, Brook & Matthysse.

All we need is for Pac to take on one of the top dogs in Thurman, Spence or Crawford and get beat good and proper or gets taken out with something big!

These guys (boxers in general) need to fight more often and be seen more often. People forget or lose interest when they have nothing to keep them up to date or look forward to as nothing is scheduled like most sports. Hopefully boxing on ESPN can do some new good.

RE: What's in a name?
Mayweather is still the most well known easily. Until he is inactive for a few years it'll stay that way.

İmage
