I’m just telling you the history of the term. HBO once had a piece on it, but I can’t find it at the moment.
The history is basically as I described it above. It was a way to argue that even though a fighter like Sugar Ray was a middleweight (or lighter, depending on time frame), he was still a better fighter than the heavyweight champion of the world. As I mentioned earlier, it’s a bit redundant to put a heavyweight on the list. He’s already at the top of any real-world list that takes physics into account, supplanted only by other heavyweights. I don’t care what anyone does with P4P, or who they have on it. But historically, the P4P moniker was a way to talk about smaller fighters relative to heavyweights, instead of in comparison, where they would always come up short.
