RE: Okay... so.... a question.
Do Americans make proper whiskey?
I mean, I like a good bourbon and all...but it's hardly whiskey is it? Do they actually make real, non-bourbon whiskey? Black |

RE: Okay... so.... a question.
Sure...whiskey, bourbon, rye...there are some very good ones.
Scotch is terrible to me. |

RE: Okay... so.... a question.
What kind of Scottish whiskeys do you get over there? Just curious as I've never met a whiskey fan who doesn't like Scottish whiskeys...

RE: Okay... so.... a question.
We get everything.
Macallan, Glenlivet, Lagavulin, Dalmore, Laphroaig...and so on. I’ve tried, I just can’t get into Scotch. |

RE: Okay... so.... a question.
You need to try harder. If you like Bourbon or Rye then its clearly not the strong alcohol that puts you off like it dies with some. Perseverance is key. It grows on you, sneaks up on you then it hooks you in. The variety is fucking incredible and (I am not just sayong this because I am Scottish) the quality is miles better than anywhere else.
I have tried all sorts, whisky made in Scotland is better. A Cask strength, sherry matured Speyside is without doubt, what god drinks |

RE: Okay... so.... a question.
It’s not the alcohol - it’s the peatiness of Scotch I don’t like.
Sure, I may acquire a taste for it, but right now I just can’t get there. Too much smoke for me. |

Probably. I’m no Scotch expert - I only know what I don’t like.

RE: Okay... so.... a question.
Scottish whiskey has the widest range of tastes, from smokey to sweet, from peaty to flowery.
There'll definitely be something to like. Myself, I like a nice fiery Talisker. Black |
