Valdez - Conceicao
Anyone see this?
Good fight, nice contrast of styles. I personally had Conceicao ahead, having swept most of the first half, and the second half being more closely contested. Conceicao went a little overly negative in the final rounds but Valdez couldn't really land much himself. I wouldn't mind a rematch, or to see Conceicao fight for one of the other belts. Black |

RE: Valdez - Conceicao
With all the gay nonsense fights happening as a late, it was almost weird to watch a legit, competitive fight between two professional boxers.

RE: Valdez - Conceicao
One of them was full of a banned substance the WBA decided to ignore…but yeah.

From what I understand, his use of phentermine (not during night of competition) adhered to the rules of WADA and not VADA, but because the athletic commission in charge of the fight chose WADA as their agency, it was allowed. Basically, phentermine is not a universally banned substance so it's more nuanced than someone just getting caught doping. But I'm also no expert on the topic so I could be wrong. All heart. RE: Valdez - Conceicao
From what I read it is an appetite suppressant, which more or less deals with weight loss, but apparently can also be used for an energy boost if used during the night of competition, so WADA bans it in the latter case, but not if used during training camp.
I think the crux though how much weight to give on the agency jurisdiction. One says its okay, the other says it isn't, and the former was the one overseeing the fight. Gray area IMO. All heart.
