Things not thread worthy
BrotherCane Wrote:I'm really sorry that you are so upset. I've been more upset than you are since the mid 1960's. I just learned how to make a difference in my own little way.SmartyBeardo Wrote:I know war sucks, it cost $$$, it cost human lives and many other things! I get that & would even read the book but if we stay on point on spending, even the crazy text in the Obama pic. This admin hasn't even brought a budget to the floor in more than 3 years, the one they did, his own house shot down and joke of a budget! I WILL STAND BY THIS FOREVER, YOU CAN'T FIX MONEY PROBLEMS BY SPENDING MORE THAN YOU HAVE CAUSE THE FACT IS YOU WILL HAVE TO BORROW MORE OR PRINT MORE AND SOONER OR LATER YOU HAVE THE FACE IT AND TRY TO FIX IT!BrotherCane Wrote:I appreciate that you are willing to search for the truth. I certainly don't have all of the answers. This I do know, Obama is no Socialist. If you look at how he has done his job he is what would have been considered conservative 30 years ago.SmartyBeardo Wrote:No the liberal thing was to get you in here talking to me about it and I read many of the site you speak of the keep reading to see both side, I ain't far right @ all and believe to 2 sides fighting is part of the problem but my man Forbes would be on your ass for some statements I seen you make and I wanted to try to understand your position cause I know you are a smart and seasoned dude but I am agreeing with you! Obama is spending $9.6 billion a day and that is a fact!BrotherCane Wrote:Furthermore I say that 1/2 on those things ain't even the truth and I know cutting spending by $2trillion is a flat out lie! Bush was a scumbag and to this day I still believe he took down WTC #7 but Obama raised the debt $5 trillion more than Bush in 8 years brother. So let me take a wild guess here, you say that's cause of the Bush tax cuts right? Come on bro, come school me on what I don't know! Please! Is accusing me of being a liberal supposed to be an insult? The leaders of the Revolution were liberals. The conservatives were loyal to the fucking king. The conservatives were the ones that would have us under a system of slavery to this day. The conservatives fought the civil rights movement. They fought women's rights. And they have fought gay rights. The reason that I suggested you start with War Is A Racket is that it gives some perspective on the real fight. This is not a left v right thing. It is not a Republican v Democrat thing. This is a Corporatism vs the rights of the individual thing. The media is not leftwing. The media is corporate fascist. They control the information that we have access to and divert our attention from reality and in fact create a faux reality. The primary purpose of our military is not the defense of our geographic location. It hasn't been for a century. The primary purpose of our military is offense in support of international corporatist interests. I am not passing judgment on that fact, afterall, I have been part of it for a large portion of my life. That is why I suggested War Is A Racket, because it is a view from deep within the monster. President Obama is part of the corporatist monster. He would not be in the position he is if he was not. Romney is also part of the same system, or he would not be our only option. You can stand by whatever you want forever, but it won't make you correct. When an economy is dead in the water, as in there is no demand for goods and services, government stimulation of demand is a tactic to help jump-start the economy. Recession/depression is not the time for governmental austerity, just as cutting taxes in time of war is a suicidal time bomb. Certainly, efficiency is always the proper though seldom achieved method of operation, but the simple tactic of cutting taxes to increase revenue has proven a failure repeatedly, including during the mythical reign of Ronald Reagan. It was called voodoo economics by HW Bush and it turned out to be exactly that. Reagan was forced to raise taxes substantially in order to avert a double dip recession. While it is certainly the case that we cannot spend our way out of debt, it is also true that the revenues to pay down the debt are not offset by the effect of deep tax cuts. I will try to make the time to delve more deeply into this if I get the chance. You need to understand that foreign aid is a very small fraction of a drop in the budget bucket. It is not the problem, and it is not noticeably different than in previous administrations. Welfare is also a strawman. Welfare is not out of control and welfare fraud is the exception not the rule. What does a lawsuit by 11 Catholic churches over birth control have to do with anything? I know about it and you know about it. It is not like it is some conspiracy to hide it from anyone. A more important fact is that not more is made about the tax exemption that churches have enjoyed for decades. Churches are business. They should pay taxes on their revenues like my businesses do. The fact is that our budget problem involves Medicare, Social Security and defense spending as well as a lack of revenues as a result of the recession and the tax cuts during war time. The problem with Social Security is not the cost of the program. It is not an entitlement actually. It is an insurance program that has been self sustaining. The simple fix for Social Security is to raise the tax limit. I believe that it is currently at approximately $106,000. That means that I only pay Social Security taxes on my first $106,000 made each year. The limit has been raised periodically over the decades and should be again. Why should I get a break on SSI taxes because I make more than $106,000 a year? It does not make sense. The problem with the Social Security system is that the Federal Government has borrowed huge sums from the fund to offset deficits and expenditures over the decades. So, now those who do not like the system or do not want the Fed to pay the system back, scream that Social Security is not solvent. It is a blatant scare tactic. When it comes to Medicare we have a much larger issue. Baby Boomers are aging. Medicare is expensive. What is not taken into consideration is the cost of no longer having Medicare. It would be staggering. In fact, if anything, the greatest problem we face as a nation is the skyrocketing costs of healthcare. You and Spyder would be quick to condemn Obama for the health care bill he pushed through. I would be too for the exact opposite reasons that I believe you would. I believe that the only answer is a single payer program that funds a universal system. far from prohibitively costly, it would stimulate the economy by lifting the burden from small businesses and llcs and creating a healthier workforce. But, this is another issue that I will need to go into more deeply in the future. Your anger seems largely focused on those individuals, largely impoverished individuals, that you have been convinced have received a free ride. Your anger is largely misguided. It should be redirected to the Corporate Fascist Movement which is at its core corporate socialism. According to the law, multi-national corporations and their richest stock holders are free to donate as much money as they please to political campaigns of their choice, anonymously if they so choose, under the "right" of free speech. What this essentially does to the Constitution Of The United States Of America is make it a contract whereby rights become privileges. Individuals only have the privileges that they can buy. Multi-national corporations have been granted the rights of the individual which means they have the right to lie without risk as part of their freedom of speech. As a result, we are currently living under a corporate fascist socialist state. Caneman, your anger is woefully misplaced, unless you are a Fascist. |
