Ali was a 22yr old 18-0 circus act at a time when giys had 30plus fights as standard to get a title shot. Patterson was 'fast tracked' to the title and he had one loss in 30 something fights.
He was not expected to even be competitive with Sonny, let alone beat him. Briggs is at least a veteran former contender with lots of previous relevance. The more boxing changes, the more it stays the same. Black |
