RE: Things not thread worthy
I could see that happening in a year or two, but at this point I think Wilder is far too unpolished. Whenever he gets excited in there like in his last fight against Stiverne he gets WAY too wide with his punches. There were times that they were coming so wide it looked like he was at the airport ready to give a massive hug to a couple of family members he hadn't seen in a decade.
One that that I really don't like about Wilder is his weight/legs. A 6'7" near 30 year old heavyweight shouldn't weigh in at 219 pounds. Wilder has pencil legs and I get the impression that they'd get weak pretty quick if he took a straight right hand or two from Wlad. A couple of years ago Wilder was weighing in in the mid 220's and I figured as he matured and neared 30 he'd fill out into a solid mid 230's type heavyweight so it shocked me to see him come in at 219 for his last fight. To me it simply doesn't look like his current frame would stand up to long term success at heavyweight, but fortunately with today's level of competition it's not as big of a deal. Against a Wlad or Vitali type puncher though I don't think he'd be durable enough to hold up at this point. |
