RE: Things not thread worthy
I've met Mundine quite a few times and he is always a top guy.
Mundine's problem was always that he lacked the warrior spirit to dig deep, and he never had a high punch output (nor a chin). It cost him against Kessler (a fight that was probably just before Mundine's prime and Mundine took a lot more rounds off of him than the scorecards said). Mundine's other problem was that because he started boxing so late, he primed very late (probably around 32-33 when he took Danny Green apart and absolutely starched Sam Soliman). He also relied on his athleticism a lot, like a Roy Jones, so a late prime and an early age to go downhill, didn't give him many good years at his peak. All in all, he was a great talent, who got a very short prime and lacked a couple of things that could have made him a great fighter. |
