I always thought an interim title was specifically for circumstances when the champion was inactive or unable to defend his title for a number of reasons so instead of stripping him they let the #1 contender fight for the temporary title to have a champion until the real champ was able to make a defense.
In this instance Shane Mosley is 44 years old not even ranked top 30 globally and 3-4-1 in his last 8 fighting a kid who is 21-1-1 fought absolutely nobody and is ranked 15th in the world. It's mine boggling to me that these were the top picks to fight for the interim title. Shane needs to either hang em up or go on a world tour like Roy did before cashing out and going home.
