Canelo is one of those fighters, a bit like Usyk where you can literally sit and watch him losing rounds, but you are never in any doubt about who is the boss in the ring. You know what the overall direction of travel is even if there are wee spikes along the way for the other guy.
He is frighteningly relaxed and composed in there. He wastes nothing. BJS had a good 4 and 5, a decent 6, as he gave Canelo less respect. In 2 and 3 he was pulling his punches, looked anxious to get them back into defensive position and landed no power shots accordingly. Once he started staying in for the exchamges he was landing and moving sideways making Canelo miss. Was good stuff for a spell. But Canelo in 8, man he just shifted up and went after him. I need to see the round and the punch that did the damage again. I enjoyed the fight. I dont know who beats Canelo though. My gut is no one. And my fading hope of Andre Ward answering the call one day gets less and less with each fight. |
