RE: Things not thread worthy
I just hope he stays at 140, keeps his belts and carries on defending regularly. That way as Covid fades, his title defences will get more and more traction. He's kind of like Joe Calzaghe, in that Joe wasn't really big business and left fans a little cold to begin with, but by the end of his reign he was selling out stadiums and headlining newspapers.
If Taylor starts giving up belts and going up to 147 I think he will get lost in the mix, as he won't beat a Spence or Crawford (or even demand anywhere near as much media coverage as them) and then all that good work will be undone. If he stays at 140 and keeps defending, then eventually the public will catch on. He will own the division for several years and can establish a legacy and a following with that claim. As good as he is, he's still only had four title fights. Lots of big names took longer than four title fights to catch on in the media. Carl Froch, for instance. Black |
