Carrying the theme on, just watched Leonard v Duran 2. The No Mas fight. Im not any less puzzled now than I was before. I have no idea what Duran was doing, but what I know now, is that the boxing lesson SRL was apparently dishing out has been massively overstated by many over the years. Duran was in that fight. I think the scorecards bear that out anyway, but I would rule out physical damage taken as a contributing factor to the quit. Mentally, I think he just couldnt be arsed trying to fight to get things going his way again. I think is driven by a man with a lack of fire and motivation to fight in somebody elses trench.

Leonard clowning him in the 7th maybe sealed the deal for him, when the bell rung he sort of waved his hand at Leonard, just in the split second when the bell went before he turned away. Like he was telling Ray to fuck off with that shit.

An embrrassment for Duran for sure in that he made a silly decision in that moment that he would have to live with, but not a humiliation in boxing terms like many would have you believe.
