JD, I was thinking about how this fight would have fit into the good old days at HBO. And the truth is, I believe, 2-fold.
The first thing is that this fight would have been a stretch at HBO Championship Boxing because neither guy is a real star. They might have put it on the big show as a matter of principle, otherwise it would have been HBO After Dark. The second thing is that this fight would have been a much bigger fight on HBO 20 years ago because HBO would have been promoting the hell out of Benavides earlier in his career because HBO would have seen his star potential and sold it. |
