having a belt doesn't mean anything anymore and hasn't for awhile. it's just a bargaining chip. with or without the belt i know who the real champ is at 168

At some point some ambitious young journalist is going to do a real "60 Minutes" style expose on how totally corrupt this sport is. Hidden cameras are going to catch a bribe to a judge here, a backroom dealing there ect. BOTH Showtime and HBO should be doing the investigating and should both be really loud about how totally harmful this is not only to the sport, but mostly to the fighters. And the truth is that as long as HBO and Showtime are profiting from the status quo and letting it continue, then HBO and Showtime are complicit.

Ross Greenburg didn't lose his job because Pac did a ppv with showtime it's because he's been fucking up for years and they finally had a way to fire him. the same stuff is going on now and will until HBO steps in and cleans it up. check out those Thomas Hauser articles about HBO and it'll open your eyes to how the sport works. but to be honest you don't need hidden cameras to catch corruption in boxing, in boxing a promoter can take officials out to dinner and put them up in a nice hotel room and not even get in trouble. |

If Ward moves to Mexico, he'll get his belt back the next day.

Ward didn't want to fight his mandatory, simple as. What were the WBC supposed to do? If they don't force the mandatory, as in the case of JC Chavez, they get panned. If they do, and Ward says no so they strip him, they still get panned.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Ward should bloody well get off his arse and do something. If his hand is bad, at least make some noise and get a defence scheduled for later in the year. It's now four months since he beat Froch and there's NOTHING set, nothing talked about, nothing planned. If fighters are only going to fight once a year, of COURSE they're going to get stripped of titles. Did B-Hop ever shirk his mandatories? Black |

Agreed. Champs should be fighting every 4-5 months.
