Trip G has one of the weakest title reigns ever, and that's coming from a true fan! I mean his first legit world title fight not an interim title fight was against a 14-2 guy who's biggest achievement was a MD loss at 154 against Austin Trout. Technically G hasn't even had 20 successful defenses unless you count winning the interim title a defense because a draw isn't a successful defense is it? Or is it because he retains the title? But in that 20 you have guys that just look out of place in world title fights. Kassim Ouma was 2-5 in his previous 7 leading up to G. Lajuan Simon was 4-3 but coming off a loss to 20-6 Dinosio Miranda going into the G fight. Makoto Fuchigami was 19-5 but on a big winning streak vs absolutely nobody. Ishida was 4-3 in his previous 7 but coming off back to back losses. Osumanu Adama biggest win was against an old Grady Brewer who damn near whipped him In a SD and going into the G fight was coming off a win vs a 17-24 guy. I get it nobody wants a piece of G but these guys were world title fight caliber guys? At least Hopkins had some actual names in his reign Trinidad, DLH, JDJ, sure there was shit in there too but Gennady needs a couple names. He has Canelo right now, you could make a case for a few others but they are debatable. Vanes is a durable guy and been the distance with the best and G wiped him out but won't get credit.
