RE: Saul Alvarez vs Austin Trout - The Future of Boxing Starts Now!
I didn't even know it was open scoring, until they mentioned to the fighter in the post fight interview, if the "open scoring played a factor". The broadcast we got never referenced to it. It just looked like a normal fight to me, lol. But I agree, open scoring sucks.
I scored the fight 115-113 for Trout, though there were many close rounds. Could have gone either way. |

RE: Saul Alvarez vs Austin Trout - The Future of Boxing Starts Now!
Great fight...luckily we knew nothing about the open scoring on our telecast. I wondered why they'd started putting the belt on Canelo before the verdict was announced!
But I thought Canelo did a great job. His defence was superb and he outboxed Trout at times. Trout was throwing a lot, but not really landing much, and what he did land was pitty pat and overshadowed by Canelo's harder follow ups. I had Canelo winning by a good two or three points. But I like Trout. He is a good guy and I fully respect his honesty. Black |

RE: Saul Alvarez vs Austin Trout - The Future of Boxing Starts Now!
The open scoring sucked ass, as did some of the judges scorecards. We need to write in to the comissions and complain, even if it's only 8-9 of us that do it. If boxing fans a whole stepped up and let those dumb assess know that we are watching them, then they might think twice about pulling off shit like that again.
I expected Canelo to win, although a little more convincingly. Trout showed determination and grit in trying to go after Canelo, but it showed that he is just not all that comfortable coming forward. I think the guy really expected Alvarez to fight like Brandon Rios. One thing that I didn't like about Alvarez was his stamina. Sure it was an intense fight, with a lot of waiting and upper body movement, but this isn't the first fight where we've seen Alvarez have to put his hands down and shake them off a bit. I think that the guy has too much mass on his arms. Maybe he should lay off whatever strength training it is that he's doing. His power comes from his tree trunk legs anyway. |

i've only watched 4 rounds so far but i'd it 2-2. i'll to watch the rest later. it's only been 4 rounds but i think Cotto would have been a tougher fight for Canelo than he's for Trout.

I wouldn't say Alvarez got a gift. It was a close fight that could have gone either way, probably even in rounds depending on how you saw them but the knockdown probably would have made the difference.

i think it's 115/112 or 114/113 for Trout. i laughed my ass off when one of those cats said Canelo might have punched himself out too, that's hilarious. i forgot what round that's though.

This fight was very similar to DLH/Quartey. I think Trout being knocked down really killed his chance at winning. I think he outpointed Canelo and could have gotten a 10/9 for the 7th. Trout was fighting alot more than Canelo last nite and lost. |

RE: Saul Alvarez vs Austin Trout - The Future of Boxing Starts Now!
At first watch I scored it 115-112 Trout. 2nd watch 114-113 Canelo...really could have gone either way. One thing I'm sure of Canelo still needs work before fighting Floyd. Floyd completely schools him at this point.
