Myself included.)

I thought I made that pretty clear in my response to Black (which it appeared so to at least Black because he bowed out like a gentlemen), but following up with comments like "Snoop looks like that Maloney cat. lol" or "freaky deaky" or saying that I would kill you, is still kind of offensive. And I guess I'm kind of pissed off/disappointed cuz I thought better of you two (Ollie, gravy).

Pretty much. Just drop the damn thing.

Sure happy to drop it but I honestly wasn't trying to be stupid. Yeah I tried to frame it with some humour (obviously a fail there) but obviously a pic of you wearing what you wearing (I'm not sure what to call it and don't want to run the risk of incorrectly calling it something its not) is going to invite some question and comment.

I personally find it unsettling and I'm genuinely not sure why. To my eyes it looks a little voodoo hence me using the term 'freaky deaky' and possibly a reason for the 'unsettling' part.

But you'll note I DID ask as to what denomination/religion it was and thought that if you explained I could then maybe go away and do a little Google research on what it all entails.

If you felt insulted by that I apologize bro.

No problem man, water under the bridge, especially after the history we have. lol I just combined the Franky Maloney comment with "freaky-deaky" and thought you were going along some sexual innuendo and was still poking fun. I know in general you're a respectful dude, but you're also a funny asshole so I just wanted to be sure.

In terms of your curiosity, I guess it would be construed as what people consider "voodoo", but it's not (I think actual Voodoo is more concentrated in the Caribbean and parts of West Africa, though you're not too off because one of the lines I practice is an Afro-Brazilian religion with roots to West Africa, so yeah.) Basically the three lines I'm following are a combination of Buddhism, Umbanda, and Santo Daime (now I'm starting to study Hare Krishna) and at least in the latter two, there are a lot of manifestations of the spirits of the indigenous people in Brazil and I've found a lot of affiliation with them throughout my time here. The stuff that I'm wearing are items I bought and were gifted from various indigenous tribes on a recent trip I made to a literary festival (random, I know).

But no worries man, don't let the get-up scare you. All these things are about bringing love and light to people, not throwing them in a pot and eating them.

(LOL. Jesus. I can't believe you said that.)

And maybe we should move this to the religion thread. I wouldn't want to hijack this one; not for Jermain Taylor's sake, but for Rom's.

I actually like the tribal outfit and it's a good pic of you, not trying to set anything up. But I don't see what the big deal is about the photo. I suppose all that would be asked is what is the story behind the outfit (which is now known).

It wasn't even about that. But to be honest I looked at the picture and yeah, I thought you looked like that dude. I don't know, man. Maybe its just the angle your face is at. But it made me laugh and I said that while I was laughing so I didn't really explain it. I wouldn't make fun of your religious beliefs like that though. Not after you said something to Black about it not being a joke to you.

So it wasn't the dressing, but you just think me, physically, in any type of attire, look like the transgendered version of Frank Maloney? LOL. That's fucked up man. But yeah, as long as you weren't making fun of my religious beliefs, it's cool, and my bad for jumping to conclusions.

I don't know what it's, dude. Not even the tranny thing. Its just that he's got some shit on his face to look darker so it's the face and complexion. I don't think I could ever tell some man he looked like a tranny but now I want to because that's some cold shit lmao. Women though? I've told some cats to do the Crocodile Dundee check before they get them home lol

Been meaning to answer this for a bit. It was only when I was looking in that Star wars thread that it occurred to me what it is I find freaky about the voodoo get-up. As a kid one of the first Bond film I ever saw was the excellent 'Live and Let Die' probably Moore's best. I don't know why but that Voodoo stuff scared the living byjesus out of me. That kind of stuff stays with you, silly as it is.

İmage

Then around the same time the scariest TinTin book I had was 'The Seven Crystal Balls' which featured another voodoo character called Rascar Capac. Now that shit REALLY scared me.

İmage

I think I was scarred of voodoo for life!

How did you get into it? From your time in Brazil yeah? What sort of impact has it had on you. Feel free to answer in the Religion thread, it could well be an interesting addition to the topic.

However of more importance Spyder have you had any ideas around our front page and Snoop if we did get a front page would you throw up the odd article on anything boxing related?

Haha. NOW I get why the voodoo stuff scares you (and that second photos does eerily look like how I was dressed). Sorry I was a bit curt in the beginning, I should have known you meant it in jest, and in a non-combative way.

But yeah, I don't know that much about voodoo, but I understand why people find it off-putting. From what I know (and this could all be wrong because all I know about it is how popular media portrays it), there is a part of it that works with dark energy and casts spells on people with the intention of doing harm. I think a large part of that is to demonize a non-traditional religion, but at the same time, I'm pretty sure it exists, and is wrong, IMO. The stuff that I've been following is nothing about that and at the end of the day, you learn the same things that any of the other religions profess: love, tolerance, compassion and understanding.

I did get into it in Brazil. I wanted to do ayahuasca for a while before I came to here, even prepped for it by doing other things, i.e. sensory deprivation tanks, intense meditation courses and smoking synthetic DMT (active ingredient in ayahuasca). I found that they have an abundance of it as an accepted practice here in Brazil, but only under religious supervision. I wasn't very religious before that, but I'm also open to a lot of things so I thought what the hell. I don't know if I'd call myself "religious" now, but I understand it a lot better and understand people who are devoutly religious after my experience. I'd say it's completely changed my life for the better. I basically learned how to clean up my life and stop doing stupid shit that hurt people, and if you believe in the universal connectedness of the world (a Karma kinda thing), basically when you do good shit in the world and stop doing bad shit, good shit starts happening to you and the bad shit stops. So yeah, I guess that's why I'm kinda hippy-dippy now and all that other shit you guys make fun of me about.

lol

In terms of writing for the front page, shit I'd love to, but I don't know how reliable I would be. I've been picking up a lot of work with VICE (should have an article up later today), and in terms of my writing ability, I'm still at the point where I can only write when the piece comes to me (I've been working on a piece about catchweights for like 6 weeks for Queensberry. They are probably SO fucking pissed at me right now). But yeah, in a general sense, I'm totally for it, it might just be a longer process than I'd hope for.

All heart. That's what most little guys are.

LOL. Thanks, but I hope that's a joke cuz you're one of the funniest dudes on the board. You got a sly sense of humor that no one else on here has.
