Andre Ward vs Carl Froch
Romulus9 Wrote:I enjoy watching brilliance at work. Andre Ward is legit A-list right now. Top 6 or 7 P4P. He not only wins, he wins impressively. I don't see nearly as much 1-2-clinch as some others do. I see a lot of inside work once he gets in there. I'm sure the opponents that he's beaten the hell out of would attest to that. Carl Froch sure took a lot of shots inside during those "clinches". So did Abraham, Miranda, Bika, Kessler, and plenty of others. Pretty plain to see.

Frankly, there aren't many fighters in the world I enjoy watching more than Andre Ward.

Not every heavyweight is Mike Tyson. Not every other fighter is Chavez, Barrera, Morales, Micky Ward, or Arturo Gatti. That's another thing I love about the sport.

Usually, not always, the people who are constantly talking about how all Ward does is clinch and how boring he is are the same ones who spent most of the last decade talking about how they'd rather poke their eyes out with a fork than watch Chris Byrd. I enjoyed watching Chris Byrd too (calm down Byrd Man). I also enjoyed Gatti-Ward. I loved Castillo-Corrales and Holyfield-Bowe and all points in between.

Being a technician and frustrating the hell out of your opponent is every bit as much of boxing as landing one big Julian Jackson left hook and hoping they don't get carted off on a stretcher.

As far as Ward getting 'crushed'... good luck with that. He may lose but getting crushed ain't gonna happen.
I agree w you completely, Rom.

The only "criticism" I could see anyone having w Ward is, at his young age, the lack of a KO punch. I don't find his style boring at all, but the one thing keeping him from becoming a superstar is his lack of stopping power.

Did someone actually say Ward is going to get crushed?

Jeez...I don't see him losing for quite some time. Carl Froch said the same exact thing, and he just shared a ring with the guy.

I've been accsued of favoring Latin fighters. And i admit i could be a bit biased at time but i have to start to wonder aswell that if the ppl giving Ward all this praise are doing so cuz he's an African American fighter.

I just can't see it. The guy is boring as f*ck and on top of that has mastered the art of holding to another level. He'll only get away with this for so long cuz once he fights a top 10 p4p type guy he'll get crushed no doubt in my mind.

Come on Bazooka, wake the fuck up!

Sure, we all love the Mexican going in and trading with his opponent and coming out the other end valiantly victorious, but Ward dismantles his opponents, renders them clueless in the ring, and comes out the other end - through all the grinding inside work - virtually unscathed.

It is impressive and it has nothing to do with his race.

Im up i just don't see what ya see.

And yes If Ward ever fought a top 10 p4p guy he would gte KTFO but luckly for him there isn't any top ten guy in his division right now but i do see him gettin whooped by Bute aswell though.

Well said Smarty.

This is why I love boxing, the styles are all so different at the top and I can respect them all.

I love to see a guy like Margarito go in there, eat leather, smile with arrogance and keep bombing the body and throwing wicked uppercuts.

Ward on the other hand, is remarkable. He reminds me of the 'old school' (I hate that cliche being thrown out), but his stance is from the school of Eddie Futch and like that of Joe Louis, the way he bends to the side ever so slightly and cuts in and out of the killzone never being caught square. This makes him so damn hard to hit, let alone the fact he knows every single other trick in the book, and his still just an upstart in boxing terms! This guy could easily be P4P top of the heap one of these days.

Watched the final Fight Camp 360 on this earlier today...here it is for those who don't get Showtime...

http://www.youtube.com/v/ZBN976Di8sA

I was almost moved by Froch's behavior and words after the fight...Respect given is Respect earned.

Way to be, Cobra.

I think Froch is a winner myself. Yes he may have lost the S6 final but he carries himself with class & dignity that many other so called champions don't. He gives 100% each time he fights & makes the most of his somewhat limited skills. That to me is a winner. Yes he offered excuses for losing & valid ones accurately stating that his timing was never right that night but full credit to Ward for beating him fair & square. It takes a real man to admit defeat & to do so in a classy way adds to his standing in my eyes.

Ward also carries himself like a champion & I am not a fan of Wards but he is a class fighter & one day may well find himself on top of the P4P heap as he has the skills & ability to do so.

Bute is a punk pure & simple. A fucking homer who travels the path of least resistance & somehow feels that he is top dog at 168. News flash he isn't & should be treated with the contempt that he sorely deserves.

If CEO & I band together on this one we all know Bute is sailing a sinking ship that is gonna get a torpedo up his arse to hasten his journey into obscurity.
