RE: Canelo-GGG II signed for September 15th!
Rewatching...the fight was decided on the 9th and 12th. There is no world in which Canelo won the 12th.

Split those rounds on the 115-113’s and it’s a draw. Score them appropriately and it’s a 115-113 card.

RE: Canelo-GGG II signed for September 15th!
I respectfully disagree on the 12th round. I just watched it and Golovkin put the flashy work in at the start of the 12th but literally missed almost every punch he threw after the first 45 seconds. From 0.45 to 3.00 he landed two jabs, a light uppercut, a hard uppercut and a left hook at the end. Most of the shots were arm punches, too, as he was exhausted. Take out the first 45 seconds and it was virtually a 10-8 round to Canelo (I'm only being slightly sarcastic, here).

You can disagree, but I don’t see it. There is no way Canelo won that round. No way.

I’m usually open to seeing it different ways, but I just cannot find a way to score the round for Canelo. He lost the first 2 minutes clear, the last minute was close.

I think if Golovkin fought a perfect fight the goalposts would just move. If he dominated him he should have knocked him out, if he killed him he should have spit on his dead body. Canelo tees off on him all night and G eats that shit like a big mexican burrito while beating him pillar to post and "Canelo's power was getting to him. Golovkin didn't go to the body enough"

I kinda feel the same about Canelo.

I have no love for the kid but he fought his ass off, did exactly what he said he would, won a close fight and all I see is hate for him. You'd think think this was DLH-Trinidad or Lewis-Holyfield the way the internet has exploded.

Poor Canelo. Just a kid from Mexico that has had judges in his pocket in all of his major fights, created a new division for himself and got popped for peds. He really worked his ass off to have GBP hand him a career

Dickagon nailed it.

Credit for fighting a good tough fight...he surprised everyone. But he lost both fights, and yet somehow on 5 of the 6 cards he didn’t. I have zero sympathy for boxing’s newest primadonna. The guy got busted using PED’s, got off easy and has had a career of judges support.

From the draw card against Floyd, to the crazy wide cards against Cotto, to what many believe was a gift against Lara...to 118-110, and then the rematch that most feel he lost but got the benefit of the decision.

It’s not this fight specifically...it’s just GBP and Canelo as a whole.

I would agree with you on the Mayweather fight.

I would agree with you on the first fight.

I would agree with you on the failed drug test.

But I cant agree on this fight. He wasn't given a 'gift' in this one as it was close either way. And I'm not going to follow casual fan protocol and automatically call it a robbery because of past events.

RE: Canelo-GGG II signed for September 15th!
I think gift is strong and a touch hyperbolic...but I think he lost and they gave him the win.

It’s not casual fan to for someone to be tired of this guy and the shit surrounding his fights. Eventually people have had enough - especially when the benefits are compounded by being busted as a cheater. In a vacuum this fight isn’t a huge issue outside of Canelo getting the 9th and 12th on the two 115-113 cards...but when combined with all that is Canelo, it is.

I mean, after 24 rounds of boxing, I think we can agree that GGG winning one single card and bring on the wrong side of a 118-110 is unjust.
