Power doesn't mean anything if you can't connect. The power only counts if his shots are landing cleanly and consistently. Martinez and that right hand of his is low hanging fruit that GGG would pick all day long.

Quote:Martinez fighting with his hands down is his style & fought like that regardless of who he was fighting & made it work 95% of the time!

The premise is right, the conclusion is wrong. Fighting with his hands down was his style, but he didn't win because he fought with his hands down. He won in spite of fighting with his hands down.

He got knocked out and hit the deck multiple times throughout his career because he kept his hands down.

Quote:Martinez may have fought with his hands down but he always had decent movement and defense, often making fighters reach, miss & getting countered.

You can do all those things with your hands up.

Quote:Martinez has also shown that despite being prone to knockdowns, he has shown to be able to get up, fight on and get back into the fight.

He would not get back up if/when GGG put him down, and if he did, GGG would put him down again.

Quote:Martinez was not the biggest or strongest Middleweight, but hit pretty damn hard for his size & could also hold his own on the inside.

He'd never make it inside with GGG. He'd get his head taken off on the way in.

Quote:Margarito, Williams & Cotto are the only fighters to have W's over Martinez. Margarito was the only one to stop him proper, but that was when they were younger. Williams landed all he could on Martinez in their first & still had a disputed W. Then Cotto needed all sorts of circumstances to beat Martinez.

You can count the high profile fights Martinez didn't get dropped in on one hand. With all due respect to Williams, Margarito, and Cotto, none of them had the power, patience, or precision that GGG had.

Durable fighters who can clinch and make it dirty would fare far better than someone like Martinez, who never really figured out how to clinch well. He'd get himself battered against a machine like GGG.

Quote:GGG was once a monster but has shown he can look human when he is in against someone who is willing & able to stick to a game plan.

As long as that game plan doesn't include keeping your right hand below your hip.

Quote:Martinez may not have the same power as Canelo but hits hard enough to give GGG something to be wary of. Both were prone to fade during fights as Canelo may also be a better combination puncher, but Martinez has busier hands and more movement.

I feel Martinez has the skills, punch & style to snap GGG's head back to a 116-112 decision!

That's insane.

I don't think Golovkin would win the first fight but he'd win the rematch

I look at the trouble Jacobs & Canelo were able to give to GGG, & although those 2 fighters are bigger & different styles, I wouldn't have them a level above Martinez either.

Martinez hits hard enough to land cleanly & often on GGG whose defense is nothing special. Martinez, despite having his hands down won't be getting tagged as often as Jacobs or Canelo as he had much better movement.

However..the big question is, does GGG catch Martinez or not & if so, there is a very high chance GGG finishes the job!

I however feel that Martinez, despite fighting with his hands down & not being as big as Canelo/Jacobs has the talent, skills, movement & punch to tag & out maneuver GGG to a close but clear decision!
