RE: Video Games Thread
I STILL have my PS2 & is my most recent console I have, so I'm well behind here lol

By saying that, the Nintendo Switch still kind of interests me because of all the classic games that are released & classic games you can download. I've seen some really good looking games & alot of new indie games are popping up that up being made like retro games interms of gameplay, sound & graphics that look crazy! Basically like old Nintendo/Sega games you've never seen before!

However, I've been using the Raspberry PI that Fitz hooked me up with years back & has gotten plenty of use! This has been MORE than enough for me over the years though!

I've been strictly playing retro games for the past 2+ years now. I almost enjoy it just as much now, if not more than when I was a kid. Not to mention playing classic games I never owned for the first time or finding out games you were never aware of.

I have played tons of games in recent years, but unfortunately there is far too many where I get sidetracked or will not finish games.

Playing all these older games (mainly nes) I've realized that some games are fucking difficult as anything, but also many games fall to this due to bad game design or bullshit enemy positioning or non-responsive controls!

Big example of this is all Ninja Gaiden 1-3. Always heard about this classic franchise and only played them for the first time this year. I clocked all 3 but man, it was both frustrating yet reallly fun as well. Great games, but so flawed! Each 1 is a slight improvement from the last though..

I ALSO notice I'm not as good at gaming as I'd like to think lol.

I realized I've only fought Tyson once in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out with a cheat (& got cleaned up in 1) & have never gotten upto him. I'm currently upto Sandman & haven't beaten him yet!..

Currently upto level 3 I believe of Ghost n Goblins (yes, I've been using the save functions for most games, so sue me!) & is the furtherst I've gotten. I've been stuck on probably 15 seconds worth of game play, that I've spent probs 15 minutes on lol. I'm stuck, this game is seriously, stupidly hard! Like wayyyy too hard!! The enemies are fucking ruthless and 2 hits & you're done!! It's fucked!!..

I never owned but recently clocked Castlevania 1 & 3 on nes (skipped 2 as it's different gameplay) like Zelda 2 is to the franchise, but will pick it up in future when I'm prepared.
Castlevania was sick, 3 was really good better than Ninja Gaiden. It had good controls, sound, music, design & was just a fun game to play!

Power Blade 1 & 2!! Fuck these were realllly cool, fun games. The makers were in hot water as their main character is a clear Schwarzenegger rip off lol. But still, this game had great sprites & had pretty solid controlling!

Solar Jetman
Big call but possibly one of the best nes games I've played! The controlling to this game for it's time is incredible as they really use gravity/physics for your space shuttle you steer around space. The controls, design, sprites, colours & music all tie in great. Many people have complained about the controls as it's too difficult. Once you master the steering, it becomes next level!!

Gargoyle's Quest 2!!!
Again, big call but also one of the best nes games I've ever played! This game is the reason I've slowly gotten into old RPG games as it has that, but also platforming to the game too!
The map/stage lay out, story, characters, but mainly the controlling & music make this game top notch!

Crystalis!!
Still playing this pretty big/long RPG game. So far this game is amazing!!! On it's way to being put up there with the above 2!

Master Blaster!
Fuckin an incredible, incredible game but it's only flaw is that the levels are wayy too big, confusing (which credit to them back then) but it gets more difficult and there is no mapping system either. Turns out, this is most people complaint & it's been suggested that you NEED the hand book Manuel or guidance from the net to get through this game. The first 20 or so minutes is fantastic, with different game plays but then, it gets more and more difficult where you're trying to find your way out (this sums up Metroid: Return of Samus on gameboy, which I've been chipping away since I was a kid, till now!). This also kinda applies to the Goonies & Zelda 1 game on the nes for me also..maybe need more patience/skills lol.

Batman: The Videogame
Game for the first Burton Batman movie & this was fuckin great!! Really awsome design, colours for the movie & very solid controlling!

Batman: Return of the Joker
This is an excellent looking game!! But not as fun, nor play as well as the first

Batman Returns
From the 2nd Burton Batman film. Great cut scenes but not as good as the first nes Batman game.

Lone Ranger!
Pretty fuckin unique RPG cowboy game with some impressive elements and different game play. Still chipping away at this but this is basically like a NES version Red Dead Redemption lol.

Toobin'
You're basically a dude on a tube, floating down a stream, avoiding stuff within & around the water lol. Very basic, but fun cruisey game!

Abadox
This is such a tripped out, good looking side scrolling shoot em up game. Awsome colours, level/character design, it's a very short game but also tricky!

Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers
First time playing it. Fucking excellent, fun, easy platforming game! One of the best Disney licenced games on the Nes!

Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers 2
Great game!

Duck Tales 1
Classic game growing up, and never gets old. Probs the best Disney game & overall game on the console by many!

Duck Tales 2
Never knew this existed. Played it & DARE I say it's better than the first game!! Soo fun!!

Reclocked Mega Man 1 & the rest of Mega Man 2 which my cousins had growing up. Now I've clocked all Mega Man nes games from Mega Man 1-7.
Only criticism about Mega Man is the same criticism AC/DC get, is that all the albums sound the same, like all the Mega Man games feel/look the same. This isn't a terrible thing though, as if you like 1 of them, then you should like the rest. Mega Man levels, stages, bosses all have their own look/identity, so they're generally ranked based on that. Mega Man never changes appearance in ANY of the 7, as his sprite is reused in all. Only from 3-4 onwards, do they add to his capabilities, like charging up, sliding ect.
Off memory 2-5 were some of the best ones. Mega Man 1 is maybe the most difficult of the lot!

Other games I've relocked/replayed

Super Mario Bros 1-3. What a treat! Made sure to not use any warp worlds or whistles as I wanted to experience every level again!

Karateka
This was well ahead of it's time interms of movement & sound effects. I enjoy this game more now, than when I was growing up. So close to beating what I think is the last guy..

Rad Racer
Fuck this is sooo fkn fast this game! You really got to be on point here, hard but fun game. Still haven't clocked this.

Excite Bike
Classic!

These are JUST the Nintendo games I've played over recent years & mainly this year & there is tons I'm forgetting.
The Nes libary alone has kept me over occupied this year. There is too many games out there and tons I still haven't played or never knew about that are quality!

Super Nintendo games I played for the first time Super Mario All-Stars & clocked alll games in it (again, no warpzones or whisltes). Such a treat to play 1-3 in the new improved graphics as the stages looked way more colourful & detailed, but would still play the nes versions, when I do eventually feel like playing them again.

Sega Megadrive games I've played recently..

I've gone through and clocked all the Sonics from 1-3, Sonic & Knuckles & Sonic 3D Blast (odd playing a 3D game on the Sega (the Nes even managed this on odd games). Sonic 3 & Sonic & Knuckles were the best!

Also

Vectorman 1
So far very impressive graphics & controls for it's time!!

Skeleton Krew
Very unique graphics/angle & sick character design!

Demolition Man
Pretty unique, cool game with different gameplay/graphics for different stages. Done a great job of Stallone/Snipes & getting that look/vibe of the movie. Fun action game

Aladdin
This was more fun now than back then. Still a classic & maybe the best Disney game I've played for ANY console!

The Lion King
Fun, but tricky game I'm close to clocking. Simba is already grown up with his mane in the game!

Sega 32x

DOOM!!
Fuck, first time getting into this & wish I did when it first came out! For it's time, they did excellent & gameplay is pretty in-depth with secrets, hidden rooms & weapons. Graphics may have not aged great, but still good & great character design and very responsive movements for limited (for today) controls!

Cool vid of the making of Karateka!

I unfortunately don't, Teddy.

In regards to puzzle games..

I recently learnt about the Nes game Fire n Ice which is an awsome looking, fun puzzle game! lol

Also Tetris (on nes or mini handheld tetris arcade) still gets played on my end. I thought I had gotten reallly good up until I played 2 player for the first time last month & got beat good!..

I do still have 8ball Pool though Teddy, which has been a while since we played on that!..
I got a new account though, which for some reason, hasn't allowed me to add anyone.. Huh
