RE: Haney vs Metro
Amir Khan was a totally exciting fighter who had no chin. Haney is a skilled boxer who has no power. I'll take Khan on principle.

RE: Haney vs Metro
I'm still dumbfounded that people are brushing Garcia coming in 3.2lbs overweight under the rug like it's nothing. There's a reason he looked the way he did against Tank. Anyone who says 3.2lbs isn't that much has never cut weight before.

All heart. That's what most little guys are.
But that counts for a lot. In the gym or
the ring all you gotta do is get up
one more time than the other guy thinks you can.

I agree. Haney rehydrates to the mid 160s, so you know he was feeling weak at the weigh in.

Metro knows that even with that advantage and a big shot in the first round, he barely squeaked by. There's no reason he'd ever tempt fate again fighting Haney - even at 147 or 154.

Garcia accused of using banned substance ahead of Haney fight:

https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/news/ry...r-reports/

Garcia does bring up a valid point though that if he did test positive for a banned substance, why did they let the fight go on? I'm not super clear on how testing protocols work or their timelines.

I believe what they're saying is that he took the tests the day before the fight and the day of the fight, but that VADA didn't get the results of those tests until after the fight. But I agree that the reporting has been unclear.

ESPN:

Star boxer Ryan Garcia tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance ostarine the day before and the day of his upset win over Devin Haney last month, per a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association letter sent to all parties Wednesday and obtained by ESPN.

The urine samples were collected prior to the fight, but the results weren't known until later.

Nah you're right. Tests always come out after the fight. Garcia is trying to fire back saying that Haney had connection with Victor Conte:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/bo...537587007/

But Conte has been involved in anti-doping for years now after being caught and it really has nothing to do with whether or not Garcia was doping. As if coming in 3lbs over-weight wasn't enough. Garcia is a fucking clown. My respect for him goes lower and lower as more news comes out.

I'm not a Haney fan, but he got screwed here. His psyche will be different after that fight. I suppose the good news here for him is that I'm sure nobody wants to see Metro fight anyone until he gives Haney a rematch - so at least Haney will get another massive check. So it's probably worth it for him.
