You should have seen what I did over at boxingscene and eastside boxing last year.....lol...too many scalps and souls to count, brother.... but frankly, I don't have time to Hate like I used to...there's a couple more victims left though....time will be MADE for them. |

Calling out fighters you thought got a pass
Am I the only one that still doesnt get it? I understand why some people hate Ricky Hatton. I happen to like him, but that's purely down to opinion. I have enough hate in me, I have to like someone to balance out the force. I also understand slating his boxing ability. BUT I can't see where he was ever given any sort of "pass" since that's what this thread is about.
He didn't fight the best? Nope, he definitely did that. He didn't come to America? Nope he did that too, several times. He didn't come to America till late in his career? Well Black already pointed out that wasnt the case, and anyway, why should he? He got more people to cross the Atlantic than the majority of fighters could get to cross the street. He struggled against Luis Collazo? A 140lb'er beat a 147 champ who nobody looks good against, in America. He sold his 0 to Floyd? No fuckin way, anyone could see Ricky Hatton genuinely thought he could win that fight. I have no problem with hate for Ricky Hatton or anyone else. Hating makes us strong. I just don't see how he has ever avoided competition, or avoided challenges like leaving home. His record is there. It's not hard to find. He was far from a homer. |

The CEO Wrote:then, he made even MORE money off his foolish fans by getting the Pacquiao paycheck he didn't deserve...Look I agree this is an excellent post in the art of hating but I don't think you get it when it comes to the protected part. As for the undeserved paycheck against Pac, the dude was the fucken undisputed champion at 140 and Manny wanted to take that crown for himself. How is that undeserved? The guy had never been beaten at that weight? Look hate is great and nobody does it better than the Zen master of it but sometimes hate also gets in the ways of the facts. Personally I don't think Ricky 'sold' his zero. I think the idiot was actually deluded enough to believe he could win. As for the sucking massively part I agree with all of that. “Shakespeare? I ain’t never hoid of him. He’s not in no ratings. I suppose he’s one of them foreign heavyweights. They’re all lousy. Sure as hell I’ll moider dat bum.”—Tony Galento |

ROLLDEEP Wrote:No, you're missing the point!!!!!! I SAID "PROTECTED FOR A MAJORITY OF HIS CAREER" not his ENTIRE CAREER!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, let's get something straight. I don't have an ounce of hatred towards Hatton as a person. I would be more than happy to have a pint with him and his parents who I came to like from the HBO 24/7 series. I have no animosity towards the UK. I actually went there once when I was young and the people were friendly and I was amazed at how clean the city was. So don't fence me in!Gandalf The Black Wrote:Youre missing the point....it doesn't matter if he won, lost, got ko'ed in 5 seconds or whatever. We're not defending Hattons skills as he was a limited fighter who done the very best with his limited skill set.blackbelt2003 Wrote:Ok. Great. If you want to give Hatton props for fighting a few time off his home turf in the earlier and latter part of his career...cool. If you want to give Hatton props for beating a 36 year old Kostya Tszyu...cool. If you want to give him props for fighting nobodies for a majority of his career except the last portion where he got pummeled by Collazo, Floyd and Pacquaio that's fine also.Gandalf The Black Wrote:I did look it up. Lewis' SECOND fight was in the U.S. Hatton had almost 30 fights before leaving the UK. He almost lost(did in my opinion) to Collazo in his American debut!!! He then manage to get dropped by Floyd and Pac. He rarely travelled outside the UK because he wasn't a very good fighter and was protected. You have an advantage over your opponent when they fight in your territory.Just thought you might like to know that Hatton's 2nd fight was at Madison Square Garden, too. I'm pretty sure he fought in Atlantic City early on, and Germany, too. |

Undoubtedly you hate well, but alas, you talk bollocks. Again though, it ain't my place to throw out the where's and what's of Ricky Hatton. However. He ain't a fraud. He is what he is. What he most definitely ain't....is a fighter who deserves to be in this thread. Gandalf the sap put him in here, brought him up, used him as an example of a fighter who is given a pass. That's where the problem is. It ain't even thread worthy. Said it over and over, a fuckin' billion times...on FH and on here, there ain't ever been anyone who thought Hatton was anything more than what he was. This ain't boxingscene...FH weren't boxingscene...this ain't eastside...same as FH weren't. Fuck it, I am gonna walk away from defending Hatton...I ain't even got any beef with you but the prick who spouted the shite earlier on in this thread and then asked for names of top ten all time fighters and what not, is the kinda dumb cunt who fades away into oblivion on the aforementioned sites. Cheers! |

i don't think anybody is hyping Hatton up, i'm not saying he's great. he just wasn't the best example for a cat holding a title hostage and not taking any challenges, some fighters in America are worse than Calzaghe was too they're on a Danny Green level. i don't see foreign guys coming to America the same as it used to be, the sport has changed a lot and foreign guys are more likely to be robbed and denied a rematch now instead of being able to come here prove themselves.
