Two World TItle fights in Japan this weekend
Plus Hozumi Hasegawa returns...
I'm happy Vic's getting a title shot even tho he's coming off a loss, he deserves it as does the 3 others who competed at the Bantamweight tournament.. TEAM BLACK |

Some of these Japanese fighters are terrific little fighters. The WBC Super-bantam guy (Toshiaki Nishioka) put a whooping on Raf Marquez which went a little unnoticed.
If this guy beats Darchinyan, he's another one who's up there...but will sadly go under the radar because he's Japanese and they never unify with their US/Mexican counterparts. Black |

Looks like that guy beat Vic, and beat him fairly definitively too. I didn't see it, but read he controlled the last half of the fight and neutralized Vic's agression. Good win for the little guy, and hope he can take on some of the other guys in the weight class.

Two World TItle fights in Japan this weekend
Watching the fight now..
Round 1: Darchinyan 10-9 Round 2: Yamanaka 10-9 Round 3: Darchinyan 10-9 Round 4: Darchinyan 10-9 Round 5: Darchinyan 10-9 (Vic is cut badly. Ref ruled it up a punch, I didn't see what happened). Round 6: Yamanaka 10-9 Round 7: Yamanaka 10-9 (Close) Round 8: Yamanaka 10-9 (Close) Round 9: Darchinyan 10-9 (Close) Round 10: Yamanaka 10-9 Round 11: Yamanaka 10-9 Round 12: Darcninyan 10-9 I had it a draw. Awesome fight. Vic ain't done..not even close to it. But it's probably time he moves up to 122. Yamanaka proved himself in this fight. Tall, slick, rangy fighter who will give anyone trouble. BigG Wrote:Watching the fight now..I think he should go back down. His main forte was his strength and his power. At 112 and 115 those things were what made him a champion...he's lost them a little at bantam and would be even worse at 122. Vic at 115 can still be a beast...he never lost his titles in the ring. Two World TItle fights in Japan this weekend
The Japanese looks good. To be fair they would be much more of a force world wide if they travelled/unified. They could be the equal of Mexico at the very least.
They do have a unification booked at 105 (strawweight) which looks an attractive fight...except both are Japanese. Would it be too much to ask for the winner vs Calderon? Black |
