Misleading power
Hopkins' short right hand was the heaviest punch of it's kind (short, quick, and all his leverage behind it) and it clearly surprised just about everyone he ever fought. It wasn't intended for kos just like a jab doesn't knock people out. I assume that if Hopkins was the kind of fighter who would stick his chin out and put his weight behind a big overhand right it would be deadly, but he was always to careful/smart to ever take that kind of risk.
