Yes. That’s right. He blamed the costume he wore to the ring for weak legs.

Quote:Deontay Wilder reportedly spent $40,000 on ring-walk costume

Do you think Deontay Wilder takes his ring-walk costumes seriously?

The heavyweight champ, who defends against Tyson Fury in their rematch Saturday night in Las Vegas, reportedly has spent $40,000 on the outfit he will wear into the MGM Grand Garden Arena ring.

Wilder wouldn’t say what sort of costume we can expect but he told TMZ Sports that it will make an impression.

“Oh my goodness! It’s going to be amazing man,” he said. “Come Saturday night, one of the things that I made a promise to myself talking to my advisor Al [Haymon], when I got to a certain point into my career, I said, ‘I wanna give the boxing fans, I wanna give the world something that they can remember me by.'”

“Not only just the knockouts, but me expressing myself before coming out and entering into the ring.”
Wilder told TMZ that the costumes are both part of his legacy and an investment.
“Spending money on these costumes and stuff … I know they’re going to turn to millions,” he said. “It’s gonna be 10 million, 40 million, after I get finished, because of the things I’ve done in boxing and the way I was able to do it in.”

If he REALLY believes that, he’s going to get washed worse than expected in the rematch.

For what it’s worth, he didn’t have a ruptured eardrum.

Wow. Costume, eh? That's a new one to add to the excuses list.

https://sports.yahoo.com/deontay-wilder-...34451.html

Also mentions him being upset at Breland for throwing in the towel and won't bring him back for the rematch. Breland seemed like the only one with sense in that corner. Wilder was getting brutalized.

All heart. That's what most little guys are.
But that counts for a lot. In the gym or
the ring all you gotta do is get up
one more time than the other guy thinks you can.

It’s practically March. That’ll give them 2.5 months to roll it out and train.

This is silly. It's as if he asked himself what the worst possible course of action could be and then choosing to do it.

I would be more embarrassed to admit that you lost because of a costume than to say you lost because you got hit in the face by a 270lb heavyweight.

If the fight didn't get stopped by his corner he would've been laid out. He's going to rush into this and get hurt worse.
