RE: Fury - Wilder 3
It was dramatic and fun to watch…but it was not the greatest heavyweight fight of all time by a long shot.
I agree that what it lacked in craft it made up for in drama. But the hyperbole is a bit much. |

RE: Fury - Wilder 3
No way is it the greatest. Not enough technique and too one sided overall.
Not to say its not up there with some of the other great fights though...just not Ali-Frazier, Holmes-Norton, Bowe-Holyfield level. Black |

RE: Fury - Wilder 3
Agreed. The skill level in those fights were at an all time great level.

RE: Fury - Wilder 3
Aside from 3 KDs, we have had 3 fights where one guy utterly dismantled the other for not far off every minute, but in a not particularly artistic way.
Social media style hyperbole at its best. |

RE: Fury - Wilder 3
But the general public and the casuals absolutely loved it. I'm hearing fringe fans who don't watch many fights and who normally trot out the clichéd "boxing is dead" and "I preferred the 80's" lines stating they love the heavyweights all over again. Fury has captured the imagination, so as much as us hard-core fans know the real deal, I'm happy to go along with the pretence.
